Oak Leaf Sauvignon Blanc

Jan 30, 2010

Oak Leaf Sauvignon Blanc (Walmart $2.69, next to the Merlot) is the second (and hopefully final) wine in the Oak Leaf collection that we are going to be sampling. I’ve been keeping this mouthwatering white chilled in our refrigerator next to the milk rather than in the wine fridge because it really doesn’t deserve a spot in the wine fridge, even though it’s empty.

Strangely, after I sniffed this wine I was confused. I thought that I had just sniffed my bicycle tire. For some reason, the only thing I can think of when I smell this is tires, or just rubber in general.

What’s even more surprising is the taste. It’s really not that bad. This wine probably tastes the more like actual white grapes than any wine I’ve ever tasted before. Lots of apple and maybe some apricot (I’ve never had an apricot, but I assume this it what one taste’s like). It’s a little sweet, but no too sweet, so I find this an enjoyable drink.

Hundreds of times better than the comparable Merlot.
